JoJo Gnome’s STEM Story Workshops for Early Years

These workshops have been designed to encourage early years to listen to stories, have children make up their own stories and engage with STEM subjects through literacy. Jo Hall uses the character JoJo Gnome from the successful JoJo Gnome Story Podcast to deliver these workshops.

Hosted by Jo Hall your class will meet JoJo Gnome the puppet, join in all sorts of fun activities and be left with post workshop tasks. The workshops last 25 – 30 minutes. Get in touch to find out more about workshop prices.

There are currently two workshops on offer JoJo Gnome Loves Sounds and Sowing and Grow with JoJo Gnome. Coming in autumn 2021 will be ‘JoJo Gnome loves Science’ and ‘JoJo Gnome loves numbers’.

Every year there is a JoJo Gnome’s Winter Story Workshop, which has a festive seasonal theme. This always fills up in advance and days are limited. This will be available from the end of November till end of December. It will be running as an online workshop (for schools and nurseries outside the Central Belt of Scotland) and an ‘in person’ workshop in schools. Book early to avoid disappointment.

JoJo Gnome loves Sounds

JoJo Gnome really loves sounds of all kinds. In this workshop we will be creatively using sounds in all sorts of ways.  So guess sounds with JoJo Gnome and make your own sound effects. Listen to the story ‘JoJo Gnome and the Sound Machine’ or ‘JoJo Gnome and the Sound Map’.  Also help Jo make a story inspired by sounds and go on a classroom sound hunt or make a sound map. Jo will also share with the children how she draws JoJo Gnome on her iPad.

There will also be follow on activities Jo will leave you with, so you can continue your sound journey in the classroom. Jo is always delighted to share any drawings the children do on her website and social media channels.

Sow & Grow with JoJo Gnome

JoJo Gnome and his Granda love growing things. In this workshop we’ll look at seeds and guess what they’ll grow into. We will work out what fruit and vegetables grow under and over ground. Jo will read the story ‘JoJo Gnome and the Scarecrow, which is all about growing and the seasons. Jo will also get the children to join her in planting imaginary seeds and growing … a beanstalk! Jo will also show the children how she draws JoJo Gnome on her iPad.

There will also be follow on activities Jo will leave you with so you can continue your growing journey in the classroom.  Jo is always delighted to share any drawings the children do on her website and social media channels.
